For Fall/Winter 2011, Carhartt releases the “Blackbird Fly” camera in collaboration with Japanese company PowerShovel. PowerShovel was founded for one reason only: a sheer passion for analogue photography. For Carhartt, they are now producing one of their most beautiful models – the Blackbird Fly – in a distinctively Carhartt design. The Blackbird Fly is modeled after the classic twin-lens medium format Rolleiflex camera, a double-barrel 35mm film camera used by Andy Warhol and James Dean. This Carhartt version is released in a nice military green, with a casing made from high-quality plastics and features the following technical stats: Lens: f/ 33mm/photo lens, Shutter speed: 1/125, Aperture: f7 (cloudy) f11 (fine weather), Focus: visual distance estimated measurement (0.8/1.5/2/2.5/3/4/5/10/∞), Weight: body 210g/case 30g, Film type: 135 (35mm). Further information is available here.
Danish skater Hjalte Halberg was recently captured by Carhartt in this video. Part of Carhartt’s pro-rider team, Halberg was filmed by Henrik Edelbo, performing a series of flatland and street tricks. The clip is a useful tool for those wanting to find out a little more about Halberg and the Carhartt team (and their line of skate apparel). Enjoy!
Last winter Carhartt teamed up with Catalunian audiovisual production house “La Neta Lab” for some high shutterspeed experimenting. Offered here are the first two visuals in a series of Carhartt Skateboarding slow motion videos. Showcase is a different side of the storied workwear brand which has steadily evolved with a heritage line, streetwear line, and skateboarding collective. Enjoy!
