JVC GC-PX10 Hybrid Camera

Life can change in a split second. An athlete can win or lose a match, or a nature watcher can catch or miss a crucial moment. That once-in-a-lifetime hero shot can happen any time, and it’s all yours, if you’re ready. The GC-PX10 from JVC allows you to capture scenes and discover what’s really there — through high-resolution digital stills at 60 frames per second, or progressive Full HD videos from which you can grab the best frame as a digital still, or with 300 fps high-speed recording to slow the action down and see what you’ve been missing. Further information on this new release is available here.

High-Speed Stills
– Just like the motor drive equipped on SLR cameras, this mode allows you to record stills in rapid succession. Enjoy being able to record 8.3 Megapixel stills at 60fps, for up to 130 shots (about 2.1 sec.). Get sharp, crisp images for every split-second of movement. Capture even fast-paced action as high quality digital stills.

High-Precision Progressive Video – Videos are recorded at Full HD 1920×1080, but that’s just part of the story. Progressive video means that each individual frame is a complete, high-resolution picture unlike interlace. And the 36Mbps high sampling rate means each frame image is filled with more image detail. Combined, these factors allow capturing of blur-less still images from recorded video with one-button ease. You just keep rolling, knowing you can always go back and select your hero shot afterwards.

High-Speed Processor – At the heart of GC-PX10 is the FALCONBRID™ imaging engine which provides high-speed processing of large amounts of pixel data for both video and stills. The one-chip design helps to reduce size and energy consumption while optimizing efficiency and speed.

Konica Minolta HD Lens – GC-PX10 uses a new KONICA MINOLTA HD LENS with a 10x optical zoom, and magnifies up to 19x* without any picture degradation thanks to Dynamic Zoom technology.

Sony HMZ-T1 Personal 3D Viewer

Sony today announced the launch of their new HMZ-T1, a personal head-mounted device that offers a spectacular new style for viewing both 2D and 3D content. Simply slip the device onto your head to experience the movie theater-like virtual screen (equivalent to a 750-inch screen) expand before your eyes. The HMZ-T1 is equipped with the newly-developed 0.7-inch (diagonal 18.0mm) high definition OLED panel (1280 x 720), which has been realized through Sony’s unique expertise in both OLED display and semiconductor silicon drive technologies. The HMZ-T1 achieves HD picture quality that makes full use of the OLED display’s high contrast, color reproducibility and fast response. In addition, the device adopts the ‘Dual Panel 3D Method’ which consists of separate panels for the left and right eye in order to display independent HD picture quality to each eye, which realize 3D vision.

High Contrast – The self-illuminating OLED panels achieve a powerfully high contrast that transcends the limits of measuring equipment. The display’s ability to render true ultra-deep black tones results in beautiful and stunningly crisp contrasted images, even for bright light such as fireworks or twinkling city lights against the night sky.

Color Reproducibility
– Sony developed a new signal processing circuit in order to maximize the features of OLED, particularly the bright, highly-pure colors and smooth gradation expression. Sony’s own proprietary ‘Super Bit Mapping Video (SBMV) technology’ has been incorporated to convert the 8-bit video of terrestrial digital broadcasts and Blu-ray discs™ for reproduction as a gradation expression equivalent to 14-bits. Even the faintest color differences are faithfully reproduced.

Fast response – The OLED panel illuminates as soon as electrical current is passed through it, giving it superior fast response (response time: less than 0.01ms) for video. This enables the panel to display smooth, natural video, even for fast-moving activities such as sports and games, without any blurry afterimages.

Connection to other Devices – The processor unit is equipped with one socket for HDMI output and another for through output. The built-in HDMI output switcher enables both the Head Mounted Display and a television to be connected to the processor unit at any given time, thereby allowing the user to switch between devices for their desired output destination. Furthermore, the processor unit and the HMD can be connected together with a single cable, which integrates the audio and video signals with the power source.

Ford EVOS Concept Car

Set to make its debut next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Ford introduces an impressive new concept car: the EVOS. Having last wowed car enthusiasts at the 2005 Frankfurt show with their Losis concept car, Ford sets a new standard in the car technology by seamlessly blending the relationship between the car and driver via information integration. Aptly titled, the EVOS will be the first of its kind to embrace the evolution of ‘personal cloud’ functionality by retaining and providing information as effortlessly to the operator as one would expect from their home or office gadgets. The exterior of the vehicle is equally impressive with a body style based on the fastback design. Making good use of four gull-wing doors, the interior cabin is home to a four-seat layout and dual touchscreen monitors that live on the headrests. Only time will tell if the EVOS is ever seen with its rubber on the road, but it does offer a consequential view into the new standard of the automotive industry.
